The aim of the investment is the rational management of this waste and its best possible utilisation. The quantity of waste, especially from livestock farming activities in the area, is extremely large and its management is an important concern for operators.
The importance of this investment lies in the so-called «Distributed Generation», which is the new model for the development of modern energy systems for the production, transmission and distribution of electricity.
Biogas is created from the use of organic residues from agro-industries and livestock farms through anaerobic digestion and its combustion produces electricity. The benefits of using biogas include the fact that the combustion of methane does not pollute the atmosphere, but instead makes a significant contribution to reducing the greenhouse effect.
